InTERNship

Yes, for all of you that laugh at me. That's how I say internship... I say the emphasis on TERN not IN. Don't make fun of me... that's just how I talk. haha

Anywho. Here are some pics from the last day at my internship! It was so fun. I'm definitely going to miss it. I think this was my first job I've ever been sad to leave....

Me with Sunshine, my supervisor!

My friends came down for 'Berkley's last lunch' (they wanted to call it Berkley's last supper...) and we had fun eating in the cafeteria. Usually we just grab food and eat it at our desks, so it was nice to have fun and take a break.

Sunshine (who leaves on her mission in a few weeks!) and Aaron. The baby belongs to my replacement, Mike. She's a cutie!
We made up the Project Coordinator team. Woohoo! We were the best.

Thanks Tamilisa for taking these pics!

Here's a cute poem my friend Wendy sent me:

There once was this fine young Miss,

who said her internship was pure bliss.

She worked with the video and technical stuff,

And I never even saw her in a big huff.

She was sad to leave the highest tower in the city,

but because she is she get's this here little ditty.

We will all miss her so much,

but hopefully she will be kissing boys and such,

in the Rexburg we all know and love a bunch.

So fare the well my 25th then 22nd floor friend,

And on this email I will now press send.

Love,Wendy

Goblin Valley

Hi Friends!

I got to go on an adventure this weekend with Lynsey, her Dad, and a fun married couple named Clint and Natalie. We went down to Goblin Valley (Southern Utah area), where we got to do a lot of hiking and see a lot of cool formations. Goblin Valley is sure something else. I felt like I was on a different planet. One hike we went on may have been called ding or dang (seriously-those are the names), but we aren't sure. There weren't any signs-it was a crazy hike with a lot of rock scaling and climbing over boulders. It was all good times though and we made it home safely.

Here are some pictures of our good times:

Multicultural night

I went with some friends to a Chinese Restaurant that was AMAZING! Usually I'm not a huge fan of Chinese, but this place was something else. I think it was called 'Little World Chinese' or Small World Chinese or something along those lines... it was a hole-in-the wall type place. Apparently, from plaques and newspapers on the walls, it was the top voted Chinese place in SLC. So, if you guys are ever in SLC looking for a good Chinese restaurant, check this place out. I think its address is 1356 S. Main (yes that's from the top of my head, so don't trust it too much). And it doesn't say the name outside. It's a random, plain, white building. Good luck! And by good luck, I mean good luck.
After the Chinese, the boys brought us to a random park in SLC that had some crazy sculptures and artwork. It was a good multicultural night.

Eating the amazing Chinese! Notice how heaped our plates were! And it was only about $7.50/person.

This picture reminds me of an album cover. Yeah, we're that cool....

Me with Ridi, my co-worker. She's from Albania! She served her mission in Germany, so if I need help with my German Lit class this summer, I know who to call. What I would pay to be tri-lingual. Imagine!

Sunshine + Emily + California = good times

Last weekend I went with my buddy Sunshine to California to visit our friend Emily! It was so fun. I met these two girls last fall when we took our Finance emphasis classes. We stuck together from the beginning because there aren't too many girls that major in Business (usually in a class of 45 there are about 5 girls).

Emily lives and works in the San Francisco area, so it took Sunshine and me about 11 hours to get there by car. Longest car trip ever! When I go there next I'm definitely flying. Emily wants me to move out there after I graduate, so we'll see....

Here are some pics from our amazing trip (sorry, I uploaded them out of order):

At a Sunglasses shop in SanFran. I think we tried on basically every pair they had to offer.

Ghirardelli's is a chocolate place. They gave away free chocolate, too! I loved it.

After the Saturday morning session of conference, Sunshine and I had our first IN-N-OUT experience! Those shakes are amazing. Not to mention the burgers....

Friday night we went on a really fun group date. This is me and my date doing some gymnastics on the counter top. haha

We went to my town in Cali, Berkeley, and I picked up a sweet pair of sweats! woohoo. What's even funnier is on the car trip over there, Sunshine was thinking of random last names that would be funny with my first name... and one of her picks was 'Berkley Badonkadonk'. What's even funnier is she didn't know what Badonkadonk meant. haha. So these sweats are perfect. It is a Berkeley Badonkadonk.

Me and Sunshine on Pier 39

Emily found a new friend. Me and Sunshine were both jealous she found him first....jk

We did baptisms at the Oakland Temple Friday morning. Inside and outside of the Temple is very beautiful....

Making some tin-foil dinners Friday night.

We took the BART (SanFrans Train) into Berkeley Saturday afternoon.

Jazz Game + the Family in Utah

Easter weekend my family drove down to Utah to go to a Jazz game and see the sites of SLC. I loved having my family down with me. Friday night my little sisters had a slumber party at my house, while the rest of the family stayed at my Uncle Jeff's house. It was a blast! My little sisters are basically the best around.

Here are some pictures from the family weekend in Utah.

Hanging out in my bedroom, ready to go to the Jazz game (notice the sweet, matching shirts)....and yes. My 'little' sisters are taller than me. Sad days....I think Naomi's cheating though.

Outside my abode in SLC.

Our cute little row of Hughes kids.

Go Jazz! woohoo

That Sunday we went to the Easter music & spoken word at the Tabernacle. It was amazing! They did the Hallelujah chorus for their end song and it was the best I've ever heard. The orchestra that played with them was extraordinary. Made me want to play the violin. Someday...

Family Times

This winter was a tough time for the Hughes family. My Dad's youngest brother, Ron, passed away from Cancer. He was only 38, so it was really sad and hard for everyone that knew him.

I went home for the funeral in March and it was good to see the family. Most of my cousins were able to make it, so it was a great support for Grammer to see all of her grand kids there. The wards were a huge support too. When I arrived at my house in Montana our kitchen counter was swarmed with every imaginable treat (thanks to the Relief Society) and dinner was even brought over a number of times. Grammer's house was definitely treated and fooded out as well. Wow. Relief Societies are amazing!

Here are some pictures from the funeral.

Basically the whole fambam.

The boys carrying Ron, every body's favorite Uncle....

My poor Grammer. She is an amazing lady! It's hard to have to bury a child.

Roommate Reunion

One of my best friends, Lynsey Barrus, got off her mission from Ireland last month. It was so exciting! Since I live in SLC and she's in Centerville, I got to see Lynsey before any of my other old roommates.... muahaha. Lucky for me!

Me and Lynsey -a few days off her mission!
The old roommates all got together the weekend of Lynsey's Homecoming. We had a blast! Going to Denny's is our tradition.
We're known for our Grandpa faces....we're so good. That poor waitress that offered to take our picture....she didn't know what she was getting into....
It's tradition for Kristen and Lynsey to always order hot chocolate and dip their faces in it. haha

Concerts

I was able to go to a Lifehouse concert the beginning of March. While I was there, I got the best surprise I think I've ever had! Kate Barlow and I have been obsessed with Matt Nathanson's music (if you haven't heard of him, you should check him out). Turned out he was opening for Lifehouse! I found out when the first opening band announced who was next. I had no idea. It basically felt like Christmas for me when they announced he was opening and I had to call Kate the second I found out to make her feel jealous. I think I did a good job of it.....haha. Sorry Kate!

Here are some pics from the concert. One of my favorite concerts ever.... and I was basically front row-next to the stage, so I got some great shots.

In February I went with my buddy Sunshine to a Colbie Caillat concert! Colbie was great. Not gonna lie though... I got bored partway through the concert. Her songs are too relaxing and she didn't do much to entertain the audience. But hey, it was still good! Oh-and Trevor Hall and Jacob Luttrell opened for her. They are both amazing! You should check them out on itunes. Actually, I'm not sure if Jacob is on yet. He took his cds off itunes to redo them without swearing (he got baptized recently). Good for him! I look forward to hearing his cds. Here are some pics from the concert:

Just Breathe-recap

breathe.....breathe..... uhh. I just wrote a ton of stuff and I just lost everything. It's okay Berkley....

I'm going to do a brief recap. You guys should be sad because I had some cool stories in there and I dont feel like writing them again. Maybe I'll come back some other day and update. Woah no way! I just saw on tv that Chris Brown and Jordin Sparks have a single? Where have I been? That will be good. I should look it up... and in other news... I am excited for the new episodes of BONES! That is one of my favorite shows. If you guys haven't seen it, you should. You may or may not get hooked (just like the time I told you guys to watch Heroes...booh yeah). Also (sorry guys this is really random), a commercial just came on that was really scary, but my remote's batteries are dead so I had to endure it. I think it was the commercial where HOld on. Going right now to turn off the tv.....DONE. Thank Heavens. Itunes here I come.

ummm. I'm sorry for anybody that has to read this. This is probably the most random thing anybody's ever read. But I guess now you know how my brain works.

Anywho. I did a ton of cool things this winter semester.

ohhhhhh nooo! I just got a text from Kristen saying she saw on David Letterman that a lady got eaten by a squirrel! Some of you may know that I really dont like squirrels. It came from the time I worked at a title company during a summer in MT and had to walk by a certain (rabid, probably) squirrel every day on my way to the courthouse that gave me a lot of grief. Not even kidding-that squirrel waited for me everyday. I dont think I'll rest easy again until I find out more about this freaky lady-eating squirrel. If they said it happened in MT, I know EXACTLY what squirrel did it. I could point it out in a lineup.

Oh perfect! I googled pictures of squirrels and this came up. My thoughts exactly. Creepy hostile squirrels.

Anywho. Back to the good things of life.
My first trip of the year was off to Disneyland and Hollywood with Courtney Boyce's sisters (Rachel, Hayley and Nitnoo). It was a blast! Besides the first night spent sleeping in a random parking lot, it was great. Actually, the parking lot wasn't too bad. Except for when the security guard knocked on our window because evidently we parked on private property. Who knew. So we moved down the street and parked in a church parking lot and slept the rest of the night in peace.

Here are some pics from that trip....

My camera likes to freak out sometimes (Kate's profile picture on facebook for example) and it can take some pretty cool pictures. I approve of the freak outs.
